A Convergence for Queer Liberation in Columbus November 12th-14th

Queer in Flux: A Radical Queer Convergence

The Ohio State student group Queer in Flux will host a convergence highlighting racism, gender presentation, feminism within the context queer and trans identities through a series of workshops, music performances, spoken word poetry, and film. A multitude of themes will be covered ranging from prison abolition and sex work, to writing and music as revolutionary acts of expression.

The convergence will bring together a seminal collection of voices from across the country including Julia Serrano (author of Whipping Girl), Ignacio Rivera, Athens Boys Choir, Actor Slash Model, Spooky Qs, Geppetta, Dalice Malice, JAC Stringer and Trazmission Prison Project. Queer in Flux is inviting community members and Ohio State students to engage in a weekend of critical discussion and fabulous entertainment.

The weekend of events will begin Friday night at 8 pm with a screening of the documentary, Riot Acts: Flaunting Gender Deviance in Music Performance.  After the film, the documentary’s director and creator, Madsen Minax, will lead a follow-up discussion.  The musical performance portion will begin with Madsen’s band, Actor Slash Model, followed by Chicago based musician Dalice Malice.  The show will end with a performance by Geppetta.

Sunday’s portion of worshops and speakers will begin at NOON at the Union at OSU and conclude at 4:30 PM.
